Rescue Hose Company No. 1 provides the manpower that serves the Walden Fire District No. 2. Our fire department is located at 20 Pine Ridge Road in Cheektowaga, NY 14211, and we border the city of Buffalo. We have one station house, which was built and dedicated to the public on October 25, 1936. In 1959, an addition was constructed at the north end. Our fire house currently houses six pieces of apparatus: a ladder truck, two twin pumpers, a light rescue, a heavy rescue, and a John Deer gator. We also have three chief’s trucks.

We have 29 active firefighters who respond to over 500 calls annually, which consist of fire, EMS, motor vehicle accidents, mutual aid, and any other call that requires our service. We also participate in our community by hosting fire prevention open houses and visiting schools. Our response area consists of a mixture of residential and commercial areas, which include hotels, factories, St. Joe’s Hospital, Villa Maria infirmary, restaurants, and other businesses.
